It’s that time of year again! The angels are back and more glamorous than ever! Here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect from the Shanghai show.
Victoria in China
The latest Victoria’s Secret show will be aired on TV on 28th November. However, the actual date of the show is yet to be announced.
For the first time, the hit show takes place in China, and possibly as a nod to the host nation, eight Chinese models will be featuring, in line with the brand’s efforts to become more diverse. In total, 55 models will walk as on the runway.
Hosting the show in Shanghai could be due to the brand’s eagerness to expand more in China. Its first lingerie store in China was opened in Shanghai earlier this year.
Victoria’s Secret has made an appearance in the Chinese market at a lucrative time for the sector. At the end of 2017, the women’s underwear market in China is predicted to be worth just under $20 billion, this is double the American market’s worth.
2017 show
This year’s show is expected to be a hit. Last year’s Paris show drew in 800 million viewers globally.
For many years, the show was only held in New York, but is now starting to take place abroad. Previously, the Angels have been seen in London and Paris.
The show itself is thought to be one of the most expensive catwalks in the world, with just over £9 million spent annually. This is compared to £1 million spent on the majority of fashion shows.
For this year’s extravaganza, Victoria’s Secret is teaming up with French house Balmain to create their costumes.
For the first time this year, a capsule collection will be made available to order the very next day. A capsule collection is a small collection made up of only the most essential items of a show.
Famous names modelling in Shanghai include Karlie Kloss and sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid.
