Plovdiv the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe

The city of Plovdiv has a vibrant history not just in Bulgaria but across Europe. Plovdiv is the second largest city of Bulgaria after the capital city Sofia, was also called by different names during the history of Bulgaria. Back in the Tracian times, the city of Plovdiv was called Philippopolis in 341 BC, when it was conquered by Philip II of Macedonia. However, from AD 46 the name was changed to Trimontium as the capital of the Roman province of Thrace; we are not stopping here because the city repeatedly changed rulers during the Middle Ages until 1364 when the Turks invaded the city which changed the name of the City again to Philibe during the Russo-Turkish war in 1877-78. (Britannica, n.d)

Now, why Plovdiv is so spcecial, is it just the history, culture or its location? We can simply answer yes, all of these make the city of Plovdiv so special. Plovdiv won the 4th place for the European best destinations and 1st place in 3 categories, also Plovdiv won the 4th place with 51 035 votes from 182 countries. (visitplovdiv, n.d). This makes the city of Plovdiv very atractive and interesting for Hospitality and Tourism industry because it offers a wide range of activities and Plovdiv and Bulgaria can be proud of four season of Torusim. So, the question is why Plovdiv, lets explore the big question as to why should you visit by showing you the things you can do.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

Standing close to the hypocentre of the first explosion on August 6, 1945, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial is the sole building that has survived and is still in its original state. This ruins has survived in the same condition as it did just after the explosion because to the efforts of numerous people, including those of the city of Hiroshima. It conveys the aspiration for global peace and the eventual abolition of all nuclear weapons in addition to serving as a stark and potent emblem of the most destructive force ever unleashed by humanity. The 0.40 hectare inscribed property is located in the heart of Hiroshima’s urban area and includes the skill-standing Genbaku Dome(Atomic bomb in Japanese) among the ruins within the structure.
