Johan Gay describes his photography as a representation of the sensuality of the male beauty combined with an artistic influence coming from art history. Today, with all the CG technology, we have an endless potential to work on images and to transform them as much as we want. Johan loves to include subtle CG elements in his pictures to give another interpretation of the subject. He prefers to keep it subtle in order to preserve the features of its photography.
He describes his artwork in 3 words:
- Sensual as the beauty of the male body can be
- Dark: what can be dark can be beautiful regardless of the angle you want to represent
- Cultural: he likes to add references to different artistic sources, mainly paintings or concepts explored during art history
