As part of our event management practice in the top-up Hospitality Management course, we (students of the October 19 intake) have decided to organise a fundraising event for Cancer Research Charity. We have chosen this charity because this terrible disease affects too many of our colleagues, friends or family members. We’re conscious of our responsibility as community members and we strongly believe that no society can be healthy unless we look after each other. A charitable act gives a sense of purpose and is not an optional extra in society – it is a must.
Above all, a small charitable act can nurture and sustain our community, transforming it from an empty shell into a lovely place to be, for us all.
Let’s do it together for the ones that we love, for the suffering, and in the honour of the those who’ve lost their battle with cancer.
As Gloria Steinem said, “It is more rewarding to watch money change the world than to watch it accumulate”. The price of living is giving, and we believe that together, we can make a difference!
